But a recent study by scientists has made rice scary! Rice increases the risk of lung cancer by 49%!

According to researchers at the MD Anderson Cancer Research Center at the University of Texas, rice`s sugar-raising index (GI) is high, increasing the risk of lung cancer by 49%. At the same time, high glucose will lead to hypertension and hyperglycemia, leading to insulin-like growth factor (IGF) perturbation.

Arsenic, an important component of arsenic, is found in soil and water and can be found in food, but usually in small amounts and has limited effects on the human body, the BBC report said. In contrast, rice contains 10 to 20 times more arsenic than other cereals, mainly because rice is widely grown in paddy fields, making it easier for arsenic from industrial toxins and pesticides to enter the rice.

Arsenic (arsenic trioxide) can cause lung cancer, skin diseases, cardiovascular diseases, nervous system poisoning and diabetes. Arsenic is everywhere in the modern industrial world, and arsenic contamination of rice may be a worldwide problem.

However, people can reduce arsenic content in rice by thoroughly panning rice before cooking and pouring rice water.

On the BBC TV show, "believe me, I`m a doctor." Professor (Prof Andy Meharg), of, Queens University compared three different cooking methods on (Trust me, Im a doctor).

One: two cups of water and one cup of rice, leave the water and rice in a pot or electric cooker until all the water is dry; this is the most commonly used method of cooking in China.

Second: five cups of water to boil a cup of rice, when cooked rice, the excess water out;

Third: soak a cup of rice overnight, pour it off the next day, and cook it in a second way.

The results showed that the arsenic residue of the rice cooked by the first method was the highest, the arsenic residue decreased to 43% for the rice cooked by the second method, and the arsenic residue decreased to 18% for the rice cooked by the last method.

Professor Mahalger, who has studied rice and rice products for decades, regularly tests his observations about him: Indian rice Basmati rice has a lower arsenic content than other species; brown rice Brown rice has much more arsenic than white rice because of its shell

Organic planting has no effect on the arsenic content of rice; the arsenic content of rice cake or popcorn is higher than that of rice; the arsenic content of rice pulp is much higher than the standard of safe arsenic in drinking water.

The UK Food Standards Agency also advises parents not to give rice milk to children aged five or under. Children should also eat a small amount of rice milk or rice products. Remember, moms!

So, in addition to a glass of rice five cups of water, what should we pay attention to, to ensure healthy eating rice?

1. Don`t cook rice too soft. Soaking, increasing the amount of water and prolonging the cooking time will speed up the starch digestion of rice and cause diseases such as high blood sugar. It is suggested that the cooking should not be too soft, too bad.

2, add a handful of coarse grain to the rice. Can reduce the GI value of rice, slow down digestion speed.

3, rice doesn`t have to be eaten, sometimes it can be changed.
