Early this Saturday morning, early Australian residents can observe the longest blood moon of this century, according to Radio 7.

The best observation time for residents of Australia`s East Coast starts at 4 am on July 28, and that for residents of the West Coast begins at 2 am. The moon darkens and turns red within an hour and a half after entering Earth`s shadow.

Residents of Australia`s east coast will see the "full moon of blood" around 05:30, when the moon, the earth, and the sun are in a straight line.

This is the second total lunar eclipse observed by Australians this year, and the next total eclipse is expected to occur in 2021.

Stroke (Jenny Sturrock), Senior forecaster at the Australian Meteorological Service (Bureau of Meteorology), said that residents in most parts of Australia could clearly observe the total lunar eclipse, except for Western Australia. New and parts of the state may be affected by cloud occlusion during the best observation period from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m.
