Most buyers who want to buy a home in Sydney are aware of the fierce competition in the city`s real estate market, the Daily Mail reported. Now new data prove once again that the city is one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Figures compiled by OnStride, a British financial institution, are reported to reveal the size of homes available for every 1 million pounds (about A $1.78 million) in 20 major cities around the world.

The data show that a 152.16 square meter apartment can be bought in Sydney for that amount. The smaller areas where real estate can be bought are also available in Singapore, Tokyo, and, San Francisco.

Hong Kong is the most expensive, with only 17.2 square meters of residential space available for about A $1.78 million. London is also not ideal, only 91.2 square meters of small apartments can be bought. Paris is similar to London, where only 98.68 square meters of apartments can be bought.

(Glasgow), on the other hand, has the largest home size in Glasgow, Scotland, at 457.17 square meters.

Britain has four cities that can buy the top five homes, including Manchester, Belfast and Birmingham, in addition to Glasgow. 423 square meters of housing can be bought in Manchester, nearly four times the size of Sydney.

The other city in the top five is Berlin, with an area of 356.2 square meters.

Surprisingly, although South Korea has a small territory and a high population density, it can buy 299.5 square meters of housing in Seoul.
