The British government will end China's telecoms giant's Huawei involvement in the UK's 5 G telephone network, a policy shift that will further exacerbate tensions between London and Beijing relationship, but will please Washington, British media reported.

The National Network Security Center (NCSC) reassessed the Chinese company's eavesdropping risk, the Sunday Telegraph reported.

British officials confirmed to VOA that the report was accurate.

U.S. intelligence agencies don't agree with NCSC GCHQ under British intelligence that the security risks posed by Huawei can be managed and mitigated. NCSC warned, however, that new restrictions imposed on Huawei last month change the situation.

British cybersecurity executives now conclude that the sanctions prevent Huawei from using components and semiconductors based on any u.s. intellectual property, which would mean that the telecoms giant would have to use "untrusted" components to increase security risks.

British officials are working on a timetable for dismantling Huawei equipment already installed in G 5 network. The British telecommunications companies BT (BT) and Vodafone (Vodafone) have asked government to allow them to divest Huawei components of the existing five infrastructure by 2030, but officials say Downing Street wants faster action, even if it means slowing the launch of new networks.

"government change idea is very popular ," said Tom Tugendhart, chairman of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee, who welcomed the reports. "

A policy reversal in the plan was a diplomatic dispute between Britain and Beijing over China's government introduction of a Hong Kong-based national security law. China's security agencies are allowed to arrest pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong. Despite Beijing's anger, Britain announced that Hong Kong residents would be allowed to move to the UK.

The decision by british prime minister johnson in january to allow Huawei to play a limited role in building the less critical part of the country's next-generation mobile communications network has hit the u.s .'s campaign to urge allies to boycott the telecoms giant.

Trump government have been urging Britain and other allies for more than a year to ban Huawei from participating in the development of fifth-generation wireless networks. U. S. officials warn high-risk —— the company, which relationship closely with Chinese intelligence, is likely to become a Trojan horse for Beijing's spy agencies, allowing them to scan data and gather intelligence.

This would make Canada the only member of the five-eyed alliance "that has not yet excluded Huawei from the development of the five G, with the United Kingdom preparing to block Huawei.

Huawei statement Sunday said it remained "willing to discuss with the British government" and accused the United States of trying to improve the market position of American companies. Officials say any decision to change the company's role in G UK network is based on "false assumptions ".
