According to the Daily Mail, two officials at the Australian Embassy in South Africa were fired on suspicion of taking bribes and illegally providing visas to Nigerian citizens.
At least 21 Nigerians who have been granted Australian student visas are reported to be involved.
Two officials suspected of corrupt are reported to bypass the mandatory check and issue visas to the "high-risk person" in a matter of days, and the 21 student visas are approved between February and April last year, according to the Australian immigration review arbitration court (AAT).

Meanwhile, one of the suspected illegal immigrants, Ogochukwu Concilia Odinkaeze, was told by Ministry of the Interior staff that her visa would be cancelled.
The staff member said it would not have been possible if she had applied for a visa through the normal channels.
However, AAT Deputy Magistrate Jan Redfern and member Colin Huntly reversed the decision of the Ministry of the Interior to cancel his visa, and Odinkaeze was exempt from deportation.
