Whether you are a freshman, sophomore or sophomore, you may have been disappointed in Australia: self-styling as a world-class education, but once on the international platform, people feel guilty; Background ability of students, and in the classroom minutes 80% of the Chinese face, trance in the domestic; uneven level of teachers, difficult to feel the master class lecture; When international students are treated as cash cow universities and government, tuition fees are rising year after year and immigration is difficult every year; the market is small, the development is limited, the opportunities are not many, and the competition is not small.

You may also be confused about the future: what will you do after graduation?

Stay in Australia? The increasingly difficult passage of immigrants, and even if they get it, there is no guarantee that they can find an ideal professional-related job;

Work back home? An Australian undergraduate degree, in the domestic competitive job market, the advantage is almost zero;

Continue to study in Australia? Is it really meaningful? Australia's graduate students are nothing more than the continuation of undergraduate courses, no matter the teaching method or the quality of students, there will not be much change. After graduation, I can add value and choose as much as I can.

In fact, in addition to Australia, you have more and better options: go to the United States to Britain! The world is still big, you have to go for a walk!

Stories of the same age

In fact, the distance between a famous American school and you is not far away. Since 2012, 51UStudy has helped students from Australian universities to be admitted to their Dream School:

"Why are you going to graduate school in the United States / UK? Mexico University graduate students are also very good ah! You ran to read honours to read master! "

These questions have been asked countless times in the past three years. With the exception of very few cases, I would hardly give a positive answer. Just as it's hard to explain to others why Monash's accounting and finance ranks in the world's top 30 on QS is a puzzling puzzle (joke).

From 2013 to 2016, the three-year road to study in the United States has been particularly uneven. Today's writing, one is to sincerely thank Ray for helping me in the past few years, the second is that it is not easy to take this road in Australia, and I hope that my experience will affect more Australian undergraduate students. Hope that more students walking on this road can persist.

Why are you going to go to English / US graduate school

Here I will list the reasons why I did not choose to go to post-graduate school in Australia (some of the factors mentioned here are all discussed in terms of business subjects at Australian universities, especially finance and accounting in the hot professions, Other majors don't know so they don't talk about it)

1 reason 1: student quality

That would sound harsh, but the gap between Australian business students and some of the top universities in North America and the UK is huge. The source is mainly due to the admissions system. Let's compare the enrollment requirements of these countries.

Some G5 majors in the UK and the vast majority of TOP 30 business majors in North America need to offer GMAT/GRE,TOEFL/IELTS (exempted from overseas undergraduate courses) at the time of application. A few hundred-word Essay (outline your career plan and why you applied for the program), your resume, a (GPA), recommendation for school grades, and after these materials have been reviewed, The school will select the satisfied students for one or two rounds of interviews, and finally the school will select the satisfied students from the group of students interviewed to distribute the offer. Because these top schools enroll very little, usually only about 100 students per program, there are strict controls on the number of international students, and some financial programs in North America's top20 employ only 30 to 50 people. So even if you've worked very hard over the past few years, you've got very good GPA and GMAT scores, and you've done a great job in the interview, the school may still be able to reject you for controlling the number of admissions. Through these cumbersome admissions process, the quality of students can of course be guaranteed.

Take a look at the admission criteria for Australian graduate students: the score is up to standard. The vast majority of postgraduates in Australia's eight major business majors are admitted only with results as the only indicator of assessment, and neither do you need to review your career plans for the future, nor do you need to have a more comprehensive understanding of you through interviews. As long as school scores and IELTS scores are up to standard, even without providing GMAT/GRE, it can be said to be a steady winner of offer.. Not to mention the number of students enrolled in Australia today, such as accounting and finance, the proportion of Chinese can reach more than 80%, it is no exaggeration to go to Australian universities in China. Because students are reviewed only by a single standard, and the number of students is not controlled, the quality of the students will naturally be uneven.

I believe that students who have studied in Australia will not be unfamiliar, when the final comes, the most heated topic is how to stay away from the subject. These thoughts, I hardly dare to speak in front of my classmates, otherwise will be named "high achiever pretended B" charges. Every student is trying to stay away, and few people think about what kind of college life I want, and what I want to do after graduation.

I know that Australian graduate students are nothing more than the continuation of undergraduate courses, no matter the teaching method or the quality of classmates, there will not be much change. However, I hope that my graduate student life can experience more different things. I hope to discuss more meaningful topics with my classmates than just how to stay away, so I set the goal of going out to graduate school in my sophomore year.

2 reason 2: a more professional platform

Because Australian graduate students can sometimes enroll hundreds of students in each program, there is no way the school can provide a sophisticated employment service for students, (Career Service).

Unlike Australian schools, some of the top business schools in the United States and the UK attach great importance to post-graduation employment, and each program publishes an annual employment report for applicants. Since employment and starting salary are important indicators for many applicants to consider applying to schools (and are also important indicators of business school rankings), these schools certainly do not leave Yu Li when providing employment services to students.

In the case of the Vanderbilt MSF I just admitted, I've arranged two career coach, for each student in the first week of admissions, one is the Senior inside the Career Center, the other is the upcoming MSF student (Transition coach), and they will help you with your Review resume. Help you with your employment plan before school starts, and the related Networking Strategy.. If there are relevant internship opportunities will immediately email to your email, any useful Resources,Career Center will be shared with you in time. Such a meticulous service is not comparable to Australia at present.

3 reason 3: different research life

As mentioned above, Australian graduate students are nothing more than a continuation of an undergraduate course, so I know that even if I spend another two years studying in Australia, my life may not be much different from that of an undergraduate course. I will most likely spend another two years in class-the Assignment- cycle.

At the same time, most companies in Australia require applicants to have PR, which makes it unlikely to get internships or even full-time jobs in Australia. This leads directly to the fact that many Australian students, including myself, have barely accumulated any experience in finding a job.

On the contrary, in top jobs-oriented business schools in the UK and the US, you need to be busy with a variety of Company Briefing, and countless Alumni Networking, studies in addition to classes. Over the course of a year, you may do a lot of things you didn't think of before and face a lot of challenges. No matter what the result, this will also greatly improve your Personal Skills.

Of course, not every student wants his career to be full of challenges, and not every student needs to keep breaking through himself. Everyone has a way of life that they like, as long as they are happy. But if you're a yearning to challenge and break through yourself and go to a bigger platform to feel more, then Australian schools may not be right for you.
