A fuel price survey reveals the annual cost comparison of the purchase of high-quality lead-free gasoline and conventional lead-free gasoline. Would you like to see if your bill has space savings?

The weakness of the Australian dollar has led to a surge in gasoline prices, but there is still a way to save you a lot of money at gas stations, the Herald Sun reported.

RACV said that some cars that do not need high-quality fuel are injected with high-quality fuel, resulting in unnecessary fuel costs of hundreds of Australian dollars a year.

Although some models have to use high-quality gasoline to avoid damaging engines, many models do not benefit from more expensive fuel, according to the agency.

The RACV study found that filling up the most expensive 98 quality unleaded gasoline increased average annual fuel costs by A $239.40.

It also calculated that the cheapest ethanol E10 fuel ended up costing A $8.29 more a year than regular lead-free fuel. This is because it is less energy efficient, so it must use more energy to drive the same distance.

Based on an average fuel price study for the previous fiscal year, Vivians drive an average of 14,000 kilometers a year, paying A $1776.60 for regular unlead gasoline, A $1784.89 for E10, A $1927.80 for quality unlead 95 and A $2016 for quality unlead 98.

Prosser (Bryce Prosser), public policy manager at RACV, said some especially European models needed high-quality unleaded gasoline because other types of fuel could damage the engine and invalidate the warranty.

"quality fuel can improve performance, but it doesn`t contain more energy than regular gasoline, they`re designed for higher performance engines, such as Volkswagen, Peugeot and Fiat," Prosser said.

"the use of conventional lead-free fuel and E10 may damage the engine and invalidate the warranty, so it is best to follow the manufacturer`s guidelines."

"RACV recommends that motorists refer to the owner`s manual. If it recommends using 95 or 98 gasoline to improve performance, but also states that the use of No. 91 is also safe, then it is up to the driver to determine their preferences.

RACV estimates that only 1/5 of cars need high-quality fuel.

In addition, manufacturers should be consulted on whether certain vehicles can use ethanol fuel.
