As part of a plan to combat human trafficking and reduce corruption, Sydney`s sex workers will be required to hold documents to work in the future.

In the new state, engaging in sex trading is not an illegal profession. But recently, the new state police pointed out that the industry is not currently subject to any form of regulation.

The situation is so absurd that they must pretend to be "consumers" if they want to investigate any illegal acts committed within brothels before they can be invited in.

This lack of regulation makes sexual slavery, corruption, extortion and even child abuse widespread. And police are worried that girls with student visas from countries such as China, South Korea, and Thailand will be forced to sell their bodies to repay what some pimps call "debt."

The easiest way to do this is to get sex workers licensed, says Linda Howlett, the commander of the sex crime unit.

"the industry needs to be regulated, and if anyone wants to be a sex job, they have to get the documents first." Said the Superintendent.

"if they can get a license like a driver`s license, when you go to a brothel, you can check their identities first. Know their names, their identities, and whether they have regular health checks. "

In a new state parliamentary investigation this week on human trafficking, Ms Howlett said police could not even go to brothels without a warrant to ask about possible sexual assault.

"We have no right to go in and check." She said.

Caitlin Roper of Collective Shout, a women`s rights advocacy group, strongly opposes the idea.

Innovation and Enhancement Regulatory Secretary Matt Kean said the new state`s goverment did not support the proposal to register sex workers.

"the advice of medical experts is that registering sex workers will have a negative impact on public health," he said.

"Registration may also bring a lifetime of indelible shame to these sex workers."
