About the Gala to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Chinese immigrants living in Australia

Xiao Kai. Mr Mothoman moved the following motion:

(1) the House is aware of:

(a) on Sunday, May 20, 2018, Sydney City Hall welcomed about 2000 guests to a gala to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the settlement of Chinese immigrants in Australia.

(b) `s guests at the ceremony included John, Speaker of the New State House of Lords. Governor Attica (the Hon. John Ajaka); represents John. Senator Curry, (Mr Mark Coure, MP);, new state, opposition party whip Xiao Kai. (congressman, (the Hon,Shaoquett Moselmane,MLC), Congressman Jeff. Dr Lee (Dr Geoff Lee, MP);, Mr Wong Kwok-Chung, Councilman (the Hon. Ernest Wong, MLC), shadow minister meaningful. Senator McKay, (Jodi Mckay, MP);. Senator (Guy Zangari, MP) Chris. Professor Huang Xiangmo, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of (c) to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Chinese immigrants to Australia, Pay tribute to (Mak Sai Yin), the first documented Chinese immigrant to Australia, and his descendants. 200 years ago, in 1818, Mr. Mak arrived in Australia from Guangdong and landed at the port of Jackson, Sydney.

(d) according to the 2016 census, 1.2 million Australians are of Chinese descent, accounting for 5% of Australia`s total population;

(e) over the years, Chinese immigrants have suffered extraordinary discrimination in Australia, and the White Australia policy was the culmination of that discrimination. To date, this discrimination from some or some political parties, such as Hanson (Pauline Hanson) `s one-nation party, continues. Nevertheless, the Chinese-Australians continue to endure, pay, sacrifice, unswervingly dedicated to Australian society, for Australia to become the world`s most successful multicultural social model has made an indelible contribution.

(2) this Council is concerned about the work of the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Huang Xiangmo, Dr Zhou Guangming and Dr Lam Hui-Yuen; the Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Shao Qun, Mr Wong Fu-officer, and Dr Wu Changmao; Dr. Chen Xinghui, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee, and more than 200 individuals and social agencies of the Organizing Committee.

(3) the House of Lords of New Australia congratulates the chairmen of the Organizing Committee, all the members of the Organizing Committee and all Chinese community organizations on their sense of responsibility and dedication to Australia. Today, 200 years later, 1.2 million Chinese Australians continue to contribute. This is the best proof that they are part of Australia.
