According to the latest data from Airbnb`s short-term rental platform, Australia`s most popular accommodation reservation area is dominated by local areas.
According to Domain, 2018 is nearing the end, with Airbnb`s short-term rental platform revealing Australia`s top 10 popular destinations, compared with the number it booked last year.
McDonald (Sam McDonagh), manager of Airbnb Australia, said demand for accommodation in local areas had risen sharply over the past few years, with users shifting from big cities to smaller, more remote towns.
"according to in-house data on the platform, more than half of this year`s accommodation bookings are in local areas," Macdonald said. This is becoming a trend, indicating that people now want to stay outside of the city. "
The hottest place to book accommodation this year is (Wagga), bookings in Voga, up 289 percent from last year.
Although the list is dominated by non-traditional tourist towns, Airbnb is not surprised. Macdonald says many users are beginning to consider going to local towns because of the large number of accommodation options available.
In addition, Macdonald pointed out that some users choose accommodation on the Airbnb platform purely on the basis of aesthetic, not geographical location.
