When the prisoner escaped yesterday afternoon, smoke came out of the prison. Residents nearby said they heard shouts, someone was speaking with a loudspeaker and a searchlight was shining.

Western Australian police released an emergency video online last night reminding the public to be safe.

"residents must have good doors and windows, and drivers driving in the area must lock the doors."

"We will keep track of the prisoners and keep the news up to date."

Authorities have not yet identified how prisoners escaped from heavily guarded prison cells, prompting the public to pay extra attention to their own safety-residents and drivers must lock doors and windows.
