Three people were arrested on July 29 when Australian authorities thwarted a terrorist plot to blow up an aircraft using improvised explosive devices, the Daily Telegraph reported. But police are worried that several suspects have also discussed the release of deadly hydrogen sulfide gas in Sydney`s public transport network.

On Friday, the Australian Federal Police (AFP) held a press conference at CBD headquarters. Deputy Director (Michael Phelan) said information intercepted by authorities showed that in addition to the Sydney airport terrorist plot, several arrested suspects had discussed another terrorist attack plan. They wanted to build a simple chemical dispersion device to release high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide, a toxic gas, aimed at crowded areas such as public transport hubs, but only discussed, and had not really been planned.

O`Brien (Nick O`Brien), associate professor of counterterrorism at Charest University (Charles Sturt University), said public transport networks were more crowded and unable to carry out airport-like security checks, making them more vulnerable to terrorist attacks. For years, terrorists have targeted public transport networks because they are more likely to panic large numbers of people and cripple the transportation system. London, Spain and Russia will have a terrorist attack on public transport networks.

Hydrogen sulfide gas is known to be the most commonly used chemical used by terrorists to make attacks. It`s not difficult to make this gas. It just needs a few ordinary household items. When the concentration of this gas reaches 1mg/L or higher, it is dangerous to life.
