Prime Minister Scott Morrison today challenged Australia`s most familiar Muslim voice and face.
He slammed the program`s host, Waleed Aly, for spreading "shameful defamation" after the New Zealand massacre.
It must be stressed that the Prime Minister is not directed against him because of his beliefs, but is what the Prime Minister calls "shameful defamation and appalling lies" today.
The debate began after the The Project program host, Aly, repeatedly declared on program that in 2011, Prime Minister Morrison urged Unionparty to use concerns about Muslim to win votes.
In program on Friday evening, Aly said directly to the audience in front of the camera, "you have to forgive me. It`s not my best word."
He said, choking: "in fact, I don`t want to say today, when I was asked if I wanted to do something, I refused all day, but in the end, I had a strong feeling that I had a responsibility to do so. It may be misleading. "
He went on to say that he had attended a service in the local mosque on Friday. He felt emptied, scared, overwhelmed by total despair, but not deterred by extremist`s violence.
Referring to remarks angering the prime minister, Aly said: "at a shadow cabinet meeting eight years ago, there were media reports that another senior politician suggested that, His party should use concerns about the failure of Australia`s Muslim to integrate into the local community as a political strategy.
"that man is now the highest statesman we have," he said, apparently referring to Prime Minister Morrison.
The comment came from a 2011 article by (Sydney Morning Herald) in the Sydney Morning Herald, blaming Morrison for Muslim`s strategic vision. Morrison was then a co-immigrant speaker led by Tony Abbott (Tony Abbott).
The Prime Minister`s office promptly filed a complaint with the The Project team and denied Aly`s accusation.
But for Morrison`s accusation, the boat has come to pass. Thousands of people heard the sound as they watched The Project program or played back the Aly clip.
Morrison is reported to have considered a libel case against prosecute, but said today he would not pursue it.
"I`m not going to do this," the prime minister told ABC television today. "I want people to report the facts, and he`s just telling an ugly and disgusting lie."
