The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that on this Super Saturday, five federal by-elections started at the same time this morning. By 10:00, Labour had announced victory for Perth and (Fremantle) in West Australia in Bratton (Braddon), (Longman), Tower, Kunn. (Bill Shorten), the leader, called it Labour`s "super Saturday night" and saw today`s by-election as a harbinger of Labour`s defeat of government (Malcolm Turnbull) in the next federal election.

In South Australia`s Mayo (Mayo) constituency, Georgina (Georgina Downer), a Liberal candidate and daughter of former Foreign Minister Tao Na (Alexander Downer), was also defeated by "Central Unionparty" (Centre Alliance) candidate Sage (Rebekha Sharkie), who has admitted defeat. She told her supporters that she respected the voters` decisions.

In the run-up to the election, there were predictions that Bratton and Longman districts were likely to be election-friendly, and some even suggested that if Labour lost one of the constituencies, Schotton (Bill Shorten) `s leadership would be called into question. But in fact, Labour won: in Longman, Unionparty candidate Rutenberg (Trevor Ruthenberg) `s defeat is a certainty, Labour`s Lamb (Susan Lamb) wins; In Bratton, where voters who used to support Liberal candidate Whitley (Brett Whiteley) turned to independent candidate Garland (Craig Garland), to benefit Labour, its candidate, Ki (Justine Keay), has now won the constituency seat.

Rutenberg said he was responsible for Langman`s defeat and thanked the prime minister for his support. Earlier, he was revealed to have wrongly claimed that he had been awarded a high-ranking military medal, and later publicly apologized.

(Ed Husic) Hou, a former Labour MP, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that Longman`s vote showed it would be difficult for members of the Queensland Liberal National Party to win re-election, including Dutton (Peter Dutton), Landry (Michelle Landry), Vasta (Ross Vasta), Van Menon (Bert van Manen) and Christensen (George Christensen).

At the same time, Labour also secured Perth and Freeman to, Unionparty did not send candidates to the two major electoral districts. In Freeman, Wilson (Josh Wilson) held the table with ease.

Soon Labour`s Wilson, Chi, Lamb and Central Unionparty`s Sage will return to federal Congress. In May, the four were forced to resign after being ruled by the Supreme Court (High Court) that they did not relinquish their dual citizenship until the 2016 election.

Perth is the only constituency that has not triggered a by-election because of its dual nationality. Today`s campaign was triggered by the resignation of Labour MP Hammond (Tim Hammond) for family reasons. The Labour Party`s Gorman (Patrick Gorman) is believed to soon become Hammond`s successor.

The current situation of federal politics

  • The Labour Party is ahead of the Liberal Party-National Party Coalition in the national polls
  • Schotton`s personal satisfaction and his preference for prime minister have lagged behind Tan Bao for a long time.
  • Unionparty focuses on individual and corporate tax cuts, action on energy costs, and promotion of the benefits of sound economy
  • Labour said the government wasted taxpayers` money to cut corporate taxes, did not spend money on schools, hospitals, roads and nursing fees, and said many workers could not benefit from a healthy economy
  • Four of the five by-elections were triggered by the crisis of dual nationality
  • The next full re-election of the House of Representatives and half of the Senate is expected to be on May 18, 2019
