On monday, hours before the passage of the hong kong version of the national security law, the u.s. officially launched steps to remove hong kong's special status, stop exporting defence goods to hong kong, restrict access to high-tech products, and remove export license exemptions. This is seen as a preliminary response by the United States to the upcoming vote on Hong Kong's Hong Kong security law.

America's government decision to take these steps comes at a time when china's national people's congress is ready to vote on the passage of the hong kong version of the national security law. To Hong Kong's democrats, the bill would threat Hong Kong's highly autonomous status, threat the freedom that Hong Kong enjoys mainland Chinese people.

US Secretary of State Pompeo said :" The Chinese Communist Party's decision to wipe out Hong Kong's freedom forced Trump government to reassess US policy toward Hong Kong. "For the time being, no reaction has been heard from China, including the Chinese embassy in the United States.

The president's decision last month to remove the special u.s. status granted to hong kong as a counter-attack by the u.s. on hong kong's national security laws, Trump, provided for economic and trade concessions, making hong kong a prosperous global financial centre mainland returning to china in 1997.

America's commerce department on monday announced that it has suspended non-discrimination rules imposed on hong kong for chinese mainland, including the granting of export license exemptions, and is also conducting an assessment to eliminate differential treatment. As china took new security measures against hong kong, mr ross said, the risk of us sensitive technology falling into the Liberation Army or national security department increased, while undermining hong kong's autonomy, and the us refused to take the risk, so it decided to remove hong kong's special status.

Mr. Pompeo said the U.S. would end exports of defense goods to Hong Kong from Monday, as well as other measures to end exports of dual-use high technology to Hong Kong. Pompeo said the United States was forced to take measures to protect national security.

Mr Pompeo said Beijing's push for a Hong Kong version of the country's security law would prevent the U.S. from distinguishing between Hong Kong and China.

In his view, since Beijing believes that Hong Kong is one country, one system, the United States should treat it as such.

China's National People's Congress passed the Hong Kong version of the National Security Law on the morning of the 30th, according to a Hong Kong cable television report.
