On the evening of September 11, 2018, the Ryder City Council held a municipal meeting at which Zhou Shuo Simon Zhou, a Chinese City Councillor of Ryder City, became the only candidate nominated as deputy mayor and became the new deputy mayor, (Deputy Mayor),. He was also elected chairman of Ryder multiculturalism Committee and Major Festivals and activities Committee.
At the municipal council, current Mayor Jerome Laxale and former Deputy Mayor Christopher Gordon praised Zhou for his contributions and contributions over the past year. Zhou gave a live speech thanking the city council for his nomination and affirming that in the past year the city councillors have been United, efficient and concerted to achieve many goals to improve community traffic, parking and safety issues. He stressed that his election was very meaningful for minority communities and that he would work harder to further promote the integration of new immigrants into local life when he became deputy mayor.
Zhou Shuo was elected as an independent candidate in the September 2017 municipal council election, becoming the only Chinese member of the 12 municipal councillors. In the year since becoming a city councilman, Zhou Shuo first joined the community to promote police-civilian co-operation and raise the security of the community. He then opened a convenience office in Eastwood to encourage citizens to communicate, including a joint meeting in March 2018 for families affected by the Marsfield fire in the joint city of government, helping the family address its immediate needs. Zhou also successfully urged all parties in the parliament to jointly vote through a proposal by Eastwood to increase the number of new parking lots, making it easier for the community to park. And has been trying to find solutions to improve community traffic. In May, the city of Ryder put forward government`s first multilingual proposal, boycott racism, and the defence of minorities, aimed at racial discrimination posters in the district. Zhou Shuo is active in various activities in the community and strives to provide assistance and convenience to the public.
