We know that Australian visa holders must comply with certain visa conditions, if there is a violation, the visa may be cancelled. One of the reasons for the cancellation is that if the holder is sentenced to more than a year or if a sexual offence involving the child is involved, the visa will be cancelled.

Recently, however, the Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Immigration Association recommended in a report that if visa holders have violent crimes, even if they are 16-18 years old, their visas will be automatically cancelled. After they reach the age of 18, they are expelled back to their originality.

Australia receives one hundred and ninety thousand new immigrants every year, about 2/3 are skilled immigrants, and 1/3 are family immigrants. They have made a great contribution to Australia`s social and economic development. So Jason Wood, chairman of the committee, said Australia`s immigration plan was a success.

But to continue to enjoy this success, support new immigrants for a fresh start here and early intervention in some behaviour.

So the report made 18 recommendations on resettlement, employment, language learning and so on. The Labour Party supported 14 of them, including injecting more money into the community to provide technical training and language courses. Community activities and immigrant social clubs, etc.

"We must first protect the interests of Australians and let all visa holders know that if they commit serious crimes of violence, they will lose the opportunity to settle in Australia," he said. There is a mention of a Sudanese youth gang that has committed violent crimes.

Australian media said cabinet ministers had listened to the proposals and expressed support, but Labour and the Greens expressed strong opposition. They claim the commission was "hijacked" by goverment. Labour said the report did not objectively reflect real data and ignored key background details, while the Greens shelled the report "to demonize certain immigrant groups."

Finally, the Committee recommends that the use of section 501 of the Immigration Act be strengthened and expanded. The immigration minister has the power to cancel and deport visa holders who fail to do so. This has also met with opposition from non-goverment committee members.

But the majority of netizens support this, after all, we all want to live in a stable society, not all day.

For foreign students and immigrants, it is not easy to stay. Since the choice of Australia, we should abide by the laws and regulations here, never because of the impulse to produce a bitter fruit!
