It turned out that the Ferris wheel`s lease at (The Beachouse), a beach park, is about to expire. Government in, Holdfast Bay ordered Peter Rimington, the owner of the Ferris wheel, to remove the wheel immediately on September 8, one week after the expiration of the lease.

But Mr. Rimington told CoastCity weekly that he wanted to renew the land for other development purposes and would take action in the coming weeks to get the city`s government to adopt his idea.

"I`m going to try my best to see if I can take the rent, but maybe I won`t run the Ferris wheel any more."

Mr. Rimington declined to provide any other details.

The A $1.8 million 25-meter Ferris wheel opened in 2008.

The wheel was not very popular at first, so in 2009 the wheel accelerated from one lap every nine minutes to another every six minutes. Then in 2011, the glass window of the Ferris wheel was salted and damaged, so the Ferris wheel replaced by the plastic window again accelerated to turn every four minutes.

By 2016, the Ferris wheel had been shut down for refurbishment, repairing the corroded rusty cabin, but it had never been reopened since.

Mark Faulkner, chairman of the Jetty Road Street Committee, said he was pleased with the new development plan for the Ferris wheel site.

"while it`s a pity to lose facilities like Ferris wheels, Beachouse needs to generate revenue, which is what businesses need."

Mr. Faulkner said: either fix the Ferris wheel and re-operate, or develop a new plan.

It is reported that last week`s proposal to push to the Ferris wheel triggered a different public reaction.

KathDuval, a resident of West Beach, said: "Glenelg, the Ferris wheel, has been going on for a long time, and I can`t bear it being pushed."

Glenelg resident Kay said he was pleased to see the Ferris wheel push back into the new development plan.

"this is really a hindrance, and I think there is a need to improve it."

"I think it will make the area look better when it is knocked down."

BobPatton, a member of the government district of Glenelg, agreed.

"it doesn`t seem to be much more successful than the building," he said.

Mr. Rimington`s RimhartNominees company rents the site for A $17500 a year.

NarnleLock, manager of urban upgrading at Holdfast Bay, said that as part of the 2018 strategic review of the city`s government open space and public domain, residents could provide advice and advice on the development of the Ferris wheel, the site and other public areas. You can visit yourviewholdfast.com, to fill out the questionnaire online before April 18.
