Italy`s prime minister declared the country a state of siege, while the Wall Street stock market plummeted.
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conté(Giuseppe Conte) said travel across Italy would be limited to cope with the outbreak of the new crown virus.
People who want to travel outside their area of residence need to prove that they do so for work, health or other strictly defined reasons.
Conte said the decision was made to protect the most vulnerable members of the community.
These restrictions, which will take effect on tuesday, are consistent with those in northern italy and will last until april 3.
All public rally will be banned and sporting events will be suspended.
"A red zone won`t be just one ," Conti told journalist, he was referring to his weekend quarantine order for 16 million people in northern Italy.
As of monday night (local time),1807 new confirmed cases were reported in italy, with 9172 cases nationwide.
According to the latest data, Italy once again surpassed South Korea as the country with the largest number of cases outside China. Italy`s number of death has also increased by 97 to 463.
