More than 3000 international students were cancelled and 13,000 banned from Australia during the government crackdown on immigration fraud, the Daily Telegraph reported.

It is reported that the (Home Affairs Department), Australia`s Home Office, reviews the list of international students weekly to ensure that the immigration system is not used by foreigners who want to have a job with rights in Australia.

The department surveyed students who no longer took part in the course, who had spent more than two months on their last study, but who had more than six months left before their visas expired.

Immigrant minister Gao Min (David Coleman) says student visa programs must be in the national interest.

Students who want to study in Australia must be inspired by Australia`s world-class education system. He noted that while foreign students have rights to work in Australia, their visas will be cancelled if they violate these rights.

According to the latest data from the Home Office, 3182 students were cancelled while they were in Australia, and another 13398 were in foreign countries when they were cancelled. Of these, 19 were cancelled for assault or drug crimes.

Gao Min said the government is conducting a comprehensive review of all visa programs. The student visa program has a positive impact on Australia`s economic development and any possible reforms will be undertaken in consultation with the education sector to ensure that the program continues to be in the interest of all Australians.

Earlier, Prime Minister credit Mosuisse (Scott Morrison) had announced restrictions on temporary immigration visas, including student visas, to send some foreigners to remote areas or small cities.

Mr Mosuisse has confirmed that the government is considering reducing the number of students enrolled in Sydney`s universities in order to support universities in remote areas.

By the end of June, Australia had nearly four hundred and eighty seven thousand student visa holders, 23 percent of whom were from China and 14 percent from India, according to the Home Office.
