As disputes between China and the United States intensify over the South China Sea, Prime Minister Morrison (Scott Morrison) reiterated Australia's policy stance on maintaining freedom of navigation in the South China Sea.

The U.S. has declared China's activities in the South China Sea illegal and sent two carrier groups to disputed waters.

Prime Minister Morrison told journalist : " in Canberra Thursday that Australia would continue to take a stand in favour of free navigation in the South China Sea. "

"We will support this with our own actions, our own measures and our own statements. "

Prior to this, Australia has repeatedly sent warships and American warships to conduct patrol operations to maintain free navigation rights.
