At around 6.30 a.m. local time on July 2, a large-scale landslide occurred in the jadeite mining area of Pakan, Myanmar, and about 200 people were buried according to local residents. At least 50 people were death. by landslides, the Burmese fire department said Tuesday
The head of Myanmar`s social assistance organization Pakan Gojie said that due to the serious collapse, they are mobilizing a large number of human search and rescue work.
It is also understood that the Ministry of Resources and Environmental Protection of Myanmar issued a notice on 26 June requesting the suspension of mining operations in the jadeite mining area of Kachin State from 1 July to 30 September, so that the mining area where landslides are currently occurring should be illegal.
