The fifth group of refugees left the Nauru refugee centre and flew to the United States to settle

Another group of four families and a group of single refugees set sail from Australia`s temporary refugee detention centre on Nauru Island to settle in the United States for a new life.

A fifth group of 29 people flew out of Nauru on Sunday, including eight children.

This is a refugee exchange agreement signed between Australia and the United States to settle in the United States.

These families are from Sri Lanka, Myanmar Rohingya and Afghanistan.

Those who are single will come from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Since September last year, the Australian-US refugee swap agreement, 139 refugees from Nauru Island to settle in the United States.

From Manus Island, Papua New Guinea, another temporary refugee processing centre in Australia, 85 refugees have flown to the United States to settle.

Although Australian immigration officials have categorically denied that refugees of no particular nationality are prohibited from settling in the United States, the Refugee Action Alliance says there are some countries where refugees are no longer among the five groups.

These include:

Iran

Somalia

Sudan

U. S. officials are still on Nauru, and they are expected to stay there for a few more weeks, said Ian Rintoul, a spokesman for the Refugee Action Alliance.

They are not currently reviewing new groups of refugees to see if they are eligible to settle in the United States.

Under the U. S.-Australia refugee swap agreement, the United States will accept 1250 refugees in Nauru and Manus.

President Trump once bitterly said it was the worst deal the U.S. government had ever signed.
