The latest essay reveals that Coronavirus can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta

Springer Nature's international academic journal Nature-Communications, published online on the 14th of a case study essay, said evidence that a mother tested positive for Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) might have passed the placenta to transmit virus to her baby.

the essay refers to past studies that have shown that perinatal (pre- and post-natal) Coronavirus transmission is possible, but it is not clear whether it occurs through the placenta (a cervical pathway) or because of environmental exposure.

essay results of a case study reported by Daniel Deluca (DanieleDeLuca) of the University Hospital of Thackeray, Paris, France, and colleagues suggest that transmission through the placenta is possible: a pregnant woman in her twenties was admitted to hospital for fever and severe cough, with blood tests, nasopharyngeal and vaginal swabs confirming the presence of Coronavirus "E" and "S" genes (encoding capsule and prin, respectively). E" and S" genes were detected. At the same time, the results of blood and bronchoalveolar perfusion were positive.

And they also observed neurological symptoms in infants associated with Coronavirus infection, similar to those reported in adult patients, whose neuroimaging analysis showed white matter damage, which the researchers speculated might be caused by vascular inflammation induced by Coronavirus infection. no other virus or bacterial infections were found and all other neonatal diseases that may cause these clinical symptoms were excluded. After treatment, the mother and her children were both recovered and discharged.

essay authors and their collaborators also measured that the virus load in the placenta was higher than in amniotic fluid and maternal blood, implying that Coronavirus may actively replicate in placental cells and cause neonatal virus emia. which is consistent with the level of inflammation found in placental histology. by confirming the presence of placental tissue, maternal blood, and neonatal blood Coronavirus, they conclude that (Coronavirus) mother-to-child transmission is most likely to occur through the placenta.
