These days, the technology is developed, the network popularizes. Students abroad should not only pay attention to personal safety, but also always guard against all kinds of cheats.

Since this year, Xiao Xin has been issuing safety warnings, reminding the vast number of foreign students to beware of telecommunications fraud. After all, parents` hard-earned, even a little loss will make me feel heartbroken.

Recently, another fraud gang was found, and this time, foreign students have become criminals.

Mainly from South Korea, India, China, Indonesia and other Asian countries, they stole millions of Australian dollars from victims through sophisticated scams! Waiting for them to either drop out of school or visa cancellations, and others to go to jail for a few years.

A carefully designed scam

The swindler is said to be headquartered outside Australia, mainly in Sydney and possibly owned by a Russian. They have a clear division of labor and a complex layout; some are looking for goals, others are taking money (mainly foreign students), and others are in transhipment.

It was done in much the same way:

Criminals impersonate banks by sending random emails that carry malware that can steal personal information.

Once turned on, the victim activates the software.

The software automatically downloads the victim`s bank account information.

The recruited international student is "superior" to open a bank account with its own name or false name, and then apply for a joint account with the victim either online or in writing.

The victim`s money was transferred to the international student`s account, and the shipper was responsible for taking them everywhere to collect the money.

So here`s the problem. How did the joint account come into existence without knowing it?

CBA and Westpac and other banks do not require the holders of the two accounts to be present in person, as long as a signature is possible. The criminals then seized the loophole, falsifying their signatures and then copying the victim`s mobile card, so that even if the bank made a second verification of the victim`s phone, they could not find the problem.

After the account was established, the victim`s money was transferred to the withdrawer`s account. Then there were people who took them to all the bank outlets in Sydney, and some flew to cities like Brisbane, Adelaide, and so on. Of course, these people`s travel documents are also false.

Serious consequences of illegal crime

So far, police have arrested at least 24 people, involving a total of 2.5 million Australian dollars.

The bank has now upgraded its security system and the victims` losses have been fully compensated, but these international students involved in crime can only swallow their own pain!

Some of them had no choice but to drop out of school, and some of them had their visas cancelled and even jailed!

For example, 27-year-old Yi Zhong, a 27-year-old international student who is one of the criminal leaders of master at TAFE, admitted he had been involved in four frauds. In January he was sentenced by the District Court to at least 20 months, up to three years in prison.

Another leader, 30-year-old Peruvian Amiel Rondon, was sentenced in February to up to three years in prison and was denied bail for 18 months.

Under the Immigration Act Section 501, visa applicants and holders must meet conduct requirements. If you are found to have a conduct problem during the application process, you will be refused a visa directly!

Even if you get a visa, whether it is a temporary or permanent residence visa, if the holder is sentenced to more than a year in prison or the sexual crime, visa involving the child concerned will be cancelled, even if you get the PR, you will not be able to escape!

In addition, some temporary visas have a 8564 clause that requires visa holders not to engage in criminal activities. In violation of this clause, visas are also likely to be cancelled!

In the previous fiscal year, the Immigration Service cancelled 1284 visas because of conduct issues with visa holders, and another 626 were refused.

The Ministry of the Interior says it will work closely with other departments to remove visas for non-citizens who are involved in criminal activities and then deport them as soon as they are verified. May also face a ban on entry, short to 3 years, long life!

Therefore, whenever and wherever, we must not only abide by the terms of the visa, but also must abide by the laws and regulations!

epilogue
