Morrison (Scott Morrison) has threatened to "discredit" Australia in countries behind false information campaigns. Australian media claimed it was part of Australia's fight against fake news and foreign interference in the "war ".

A new working group against foreign interference has been established by the national security and intelligence services of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Australian newspaper said the move was aimed at bringing Australia together with "like-minded" countries to focus on disinformation campaigns by strategic competitors such as China.

The working group will implement a diplomatic strategy and use "fact-based" propaganda activities to combat fake news. At the same time, it will also provide some counter-action plans. Allegedly, the purpose of these plans is to "shame" countries that spread false information and harm Australia's interests.

Cooperation between the Working Group and the Ministry of the Interior and the National Intelligence Office (Office of National Intelligence), as well as information-sharing with international partners, will develop multilateral responses.

Also recently, the Home Office said more authority, was needed to suppress the expansion of social media content on "authoritarian state social platforms ."

One Senate hearings on foreign intervention through social media was informed that "for platforms such as the International Edition of the social app 、 Tik Tok TikTok ,"(Australia) may need to strengthen the response "," because the review mechanisms of these platforms and less privacy protection raise more concerns ".

Ministry of Foreign Affairs documents submitted to the hearings show that a pilot diplomatic strategy will show foreign interventionist actors that "their actions can and will be exposed and will trigger a significant response ".

The aim is to convince these people that "their actions will not be worth the loss, including damage to the international reputation of (the host country)".

government morrison is stepping up national responses to foreign intervention as australia and china relationship continue to tighten.

On Friday, diplomatic minister Marise Payne told the Alliance for Multilateralism that Australia would "rely on facts and transparency" to counter disinformation in the Indian Ocean-Pacific region.

"We will overcome the pandemic and reduce social tensions by ensuring that the truth prevails over a large number of lies. "By upholding our values, our security and our sovereignty ,," she declared. "
