Hiding on the south bank of Brisbane, eight things the locals only know.

People say that rivers flow through places that leave the best romantic memories of the city. The Brisbane River flows zigzag across Australia's burgeoning city, and Brisbane's South Bank is known as the "South Bank" because it lies south of the bank. Nourished by the Brisbane River, the south bank is the most representative of Brisbane local lifestyle and cultural characteristics. The 17-hectare South Bank Park is home to world-class restaurants; it also allows you to take part in the year-round entertainment while enjoying the delightful view of the riverbank. South Bank, can let you relax and indulge in it.

No matter where you come from, "go to the South Bank" is a Brisbane convention, but if you don't know the following "eight things", you're not a local.

First thing: a picnic on the riverbank of wharf

The riverbank wharf is unquestionably one of the most beautiful places in Brisbane and, even better, picnics are allowed almost every day from 10:00 to 8pm. So grab your picnic basket, flip out your comfortable blanket, and go to the bank of wharf to have a picnic and spend time in the Brisbane river.

The second thing: walk in the flower-scented pavilion.

When it comes to the word "South Bank", the picture of the leafy flower pavilion is always popped out of my mind. Walking through this beautiful nine-fold porch throughout the year will be the most romantic thing to go to the south bank. The promenade starts at the Cultural Square and stretches 1 kilometer in the South Bank Park, ending in a boating tavern behind the riverbank of wharf.

Third thing: soak in a man-made beach

Forget Bundy Beach, the man-made beach on the South Bank is the right way to open the city beach. In the heart of the south bank, the south beach is Australia's only man-made beach in the city centre; the sparkling sand shines in the sun, and you have every reason to swim and relax.

The fourth thing: ice cream on the highway along the river.

Across the south bank of the river, Clem Jones Riparian Boulevard is celebrated for its riverside beauty and shade. Remember to pick your favorite ice cream from the many desserts on the south bank and enjoy the sweet time while walking around the riverside.

Fifth thing: follow the Brisbane usher to find the south bank

Do you really have a comprehensive understanding of the South Bank? Brisbane attendants take a free tour of the South Bank Park and lead you to uncharted areas such as the boating pub (Ship Inn). Why do you have that name?

Sixth thing: taste the gourmet garden

You don't have to go into the field to learn what's on the table. Just come to the South Bank's gourmet garden, (Epicurious Garden). Full of fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs, people can come here to pick up their favorite products and take them away for free. The gourmet garden will change new varieties all the year round with different seasons, making sure you don't get disappointed when you arrive.

Seventh thing: watch a show at the Queensland Performing Arts Cente

The south bank of Brisbane is also a place full of art. The Queensland Performing Arts Center (QPAC) is one of the best performing venues in Brisbane, from world-class operas to theatre, live concerts to comedy performances, and even the most picky audience can find the right place to enjoy.

The eighth thing: go to GOMA and enjoy the art for free.

Hey, if you don't have the word "free art" in your ear, you're not really a Brisbane natives. Goma knows that locals love to enjoy "free art," so they go to the South Bank. Don't forget to visit GOMA free of charge. There are art exhibitions for all ages, including children all year round.
