According to real estate website Domain, the expatriate website InterNations recently announced that the latest foreign city ranking (Expat City Ranking), Melbourne ranked top in Australia, Sydney has also been re-favored by expatriates.

Sydney jumped more than 20 places in this year's list, jumping to 21st place from 44 in 2017, but still slightly underperforming Melbourne, which ranked 16th. Auckland has seen its biggest decline this year, falling to 37 from 14 last year, no longer a match for Sydney and Mexico.

And housing costs are still one of the thorniest problems facing the three cities. The survey found that 82 percent of Sydney residents thought housing costs were too high, compared with 44 percent of the world's population.

Melbourne ranks 46th in the world among the best cost-of-living cities, ahead of Sydney (60th) and Auckland (64th).

Melbourne's performance in terms of urban living standards and quality of security is also impressive. However, the city's performance in Oceania cities was not satisfactory on "working life," with 26 percent of Melbourne expatriates saying they were not satisfied with their work.

The weather in Sydney still won him a lot of fans. In terms of leisure (atmosphere) and climate, the seaport city ranks fifth in the world. Sydney also ranked ninth in the world in terms of the popularity felt by expatriates; work-life balance also ranked eighth in the world, well ahead of Melbourne, which ranked 30th.

Odonoho (Niamh O'Donoghue), who recently arrived in Sydney, said that when she first moved to Sydney, she was shocked by the cost of living here in terms of rent, dining out and purchasing essentials.

"my salary is a lot higher than when I was in Ireland, at least 25% more." "but the cost of living here is too high and the rent is too expensive," she said.

But Billie Giles-Corti, a professor at (Centre for Urban Research) at the (RMIT) Center for Urban Studies at Royal Melbourne University of Technology, says that while housing affordability is an issue for locals and expatriates alike, But lists such as the recent InterNations rankings do not reflect the (real) life experience of Sydney or Melbourne residents. "foreigners may get a high salary and they will choose to live in some of the best urban areas in the city, rather than having to live in stressed urban areas."

In this ranking, Taipei won the world's top spot, followed by Singapore, (Bahrain), Bahrain, (Manama), Hu Zhiming, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, and Aachen (Aachen), Prague, Germany. Muscat (Muscat)., (Oman), Madrid and Oman

In terms of national and regional rankings, Australia jumped 22 places, from 34 in 2017 to 12 in 2018. More than half of those who moved to Australia said it was easy to make friends, with 4/3 saying they had a positive attitude towards foreign residents.
