Brisbane public transport is the worst in Australia, and the infrastructure of backward cities is worrying.

According to the Brisbane Times, Brisbane's public transport system is the worst of all capital cities in Australia, with only 12 percent of households having easy access to bus stops or train stations, and the frequency of these public transport is at least half an hour.

In addition, only 61% of Brisbane families have public transport sites within 400m, well below the 90% state government target.

By contrast, more than 30 percent of Sydney and Melbourne families are close to half-hour traffic stations.

Brisbane also lags behind in developing walkable communities, especially in suburban areas.

Brisbane's public transport is detailed in a new report by the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology's Urban Research Center, creating habitable cities in Australia.

The report's author, Lucy Gunn, says Brisbane's transport infrastructure is lagging behind.

Public transport can promote social development opportunities, it opens people's lives, helps people go to work, school and entertainment. Brisbane's public transport infrastructure is not well linked to residents' daily needs and activities. This means that most people in Brisbane cannot enjoy the service of leaving without planning time. "

Only 5% of workers in Brisbane walk or bike to work, and only 14% take public transport, according to data.

A livable city should be a safe, attractive and socially cohesive place, with affordable housing connected to cultural centres, shops and workplaces through public transport, walking and riding infrastructure.

The report assesses state government policies to improve urban liveability and finds some improvements, but others are well aware that it is worse.

While almost all Kunzhou people live within 2.5 kilometers of public open space more than 5 hectares, only 65% of households have more than half a hectare of parks within 400 meters of their homes, below the 90% target.

The report also suggests that government should create walkable communities "as a foundation for a livable city."

Housing affordability has also worsened over the past five years. Now 37% of Brisbane families are considered to be under housing stress.

The report's authors suggest that the state government should set a "bold" goal of livability, focusing on urban and suburban housing density.

In the suburbs, the housing density should be 25 units per hectare. The urban area should be at least 30 homes per hectare.

The government should create more open public space and infrastructure and encourage more walking and cycling facilities, the report said.

"if Australia's population growth will gradually infiltrate into cities like Brisbane, it's time to start supporting population growth and avoid the traffic jams that Melbourne and Sydney now face."
