Located on the northeast coast of Queensland, Edmund Kennedy National Park covers an area of about 9000 square kilometers and is part of UNESCO's World Heritage: Queensland humid Tropics (Wet Tropics of Queensland).
Edmund Kennedy National Park is located between the two cities of Cairns and Townsville (Townsville), and the nearest town is Kadwell (Cardwell).
Edmund Kennedy National Park was named after the explorer Edmund Kennedy (Edmund Kennedy), and in 1848 Edmund and his team of 12 were in Tam O'Sat 39, 35 kilometers north of the National Park; S Shanter Point) landed and began their ill-fated expedition to (Cape York), Cape York. Far from town and sparsely populated, the environment is almost the same as Edmund found it.
Edmund Kennedy National Park has a variety of vegetation types and wildlife types, including low-coastal rain forests, eucalyptus forests, white thousand-storey shrub forests, saggy swamps and vast mangrove swamps, and so on. Beech with distinctive red, peeling bark and large yellow flowers can be seen here, as well as Dowers and White Thousand shrubs. Although some birds and reptiles can be seen during the day, most of the wildlife in the National Park is dominated by nocturnal activity, home to endangered southern turkeys and mahogany bag shrews. An orange-footed pheasant can be seen on the edge of a walking path, and a dragon lizard can often be seen bathing in the sun or climbing fast up and down the branches of the tree.
