Raymond Island is located in the (Gippsland region) area of the Gypsland region of southeast Victoria, a small island in (Gippsland Lake), about 6 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide. The island has a resident population of about 500 people, mostly in the southwest of the island.
Raymond Island is famous for its intact original ecology and a large number of wild koalas living here. Island residents love koalas. Koalas appear in residents' compounds in different places, and the owners of the courtyard often chat with "their" koalas, and want to find koalas on the island, drive or walk, and there are also kangaroos, echidna, red parrots on the island. Standing at the ferry, you may also see dolphins lurking in the waves, people and these wild animals live in harmony, showing a happy picture.
Bairnsdale is the nearest large town to Raymond Island, while (Paynesville), a small town about 20 kilometers from Bairnsdale, is the gateway to Raymond Island. Raymond Island and Painesville are only about 200 meters apart, and there are ferries between the two. Although the proposal to build a bridge has been put forward for a long time, it is still under discussion, which not only restricts the development of Raymond Island, but also helps Raymond Island maintain its original customs better.
