Introduction

Peel Island is an island in (Moreton Bay), north of Brisbane, Queensland's capital, between mainland and (North Stradbroke Island), North StradBrock Island, covering about 590 hectares.

Peel Island served as a quarantine station in the mid-19th century, and new immigrants who landed in Australia from Brisbane will be quarantined on the island to avoid bringing infectious diseases to mainland. 2007, The entire Peel Island is included in the (Teerk Roo Ra National Park) protection of the TilCrowe National Park.

Peel Island is known for its good natural environment, limited man-made facilities, pristine forests and a large number of wild birds on the island. Dugongs, turtles and dolphins are often seen in waters near the island. It is also home to thousands of jellyfish and sharks.

At present, the entire Peel Island is strictly protected, and there are only two places on the island, (Horseshoe Bay) and (Platypus Bay), which are open to the public: horseshoe Bay has sandstone landforms that are not common on other beaches. And platypus bay, as its name suggests, inhabits the lovely platypus. The site of the old quarantine station, located in the southwest corner of the island, is closed to the public.
