Introduction

Located in the central Heights area of New South Wales, (Central Tablelands region), is about 180km from Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, and covers an area of about 686.6 square kilometers.

Founded in 1969, Kanangra-Boyd National Park is part of the World Natural Heritage assessed by UNESCO as (Greater Blue Mountains Area, 2000 in the Greater Blue Mountain range region. The Great Blue Mountain range World Heritage consists of seven national parks and a protected area, with the exception of Kanangra-Boyd National Park, the rest being: blue Mountain National Park, (Blue Mountains National Park), Wallemie National Park, (Wollemi National Park),. Yancho National Park (Yengo National Park), Natayi National Park (Nattai National Park), Gardenstone National Park (Gardens of Stone National Park), Salmi Lake National Park (Thirlmere Lakes National Park) and Jolan Cave Karst Reserve (Jenolan Caves Karst Conservation Reserve).

Kanangra-Boyd National Park borders Blue Mountain National Park in the north and Natta in the south.

Kanangra-Boyd National Park is located in one of the largest and most rugged wilderness areas in New South Wales, with few roads and facilities in the National Park, apart from walking routes and a few dirt roads that allow only four-drive vehicles. Only for experienced visitors.

Known as one of the best preserved and oldest rock groups in the world, (Jenolan Caves) is located at the western tip of the National Park.
