Introduction

Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is located in (Circular Quay)., the roundabout wharf in downtown Sydney, New South Wales.

Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is facing the Sydney Opera House's (Sydney Opera House), Sandstone building, built in the 1950s, with a cumbersome style of classical art decoration. Narrow corridors and lower ceilings determine that it is not a perfect space to showcase modern art, and that the museum has been on the verge of bankruptcy for many years. But under the aegis of magical curator Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, the museum's collection has finally expanded, with a steady increase in audiences and a surge in demand for more space. About 10 years ago, Australian architect Sam Marshall was appointed to redecorate the museum's interior. More importantly, he needs to design a new building on the site next to what was once a parking lot; it will provide space for three new galleries, a coffee shop, sculpture platforms, education centers and lecture halls. On the outside, the two buildings had a completely different style; in the interior, Sam Marshall perfectly combined the two buildings, almost indistinguishable from one building to the other. Sam Marshall did the job brilliantly. Considering the location of the museum in view of the port of Sydney and the Sydney Opera House, It's not suitable for landmarks like the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao or the Pompidou Art Centre in Paris. Sam Marshall's museum is elegant and unobtrusive, and it serves both art and the audience. Instead of letting yourself be the focus of attention. It consists of a chain of cuboids and rectangles, and the depth of different colors and huge glass windows makes it modern. The opening of the new MCA, called "Marking Time," invited 11 artists, including Christian Macre (Christian Marclay) and (Tatsuo Miyajima) Miyima, to handle the passage of a few minutes, days or even years. There is a showroom dedicated to Shane Gladwell (Shaun Gladwell) 's image "Storm Sequence". In this work, the artist performed a ballerina-like skateboarding stunt on Bondi Beach; in some way, the artist created a dance on the edge of the world in a way that lasted 10 minutes.

It is also worth mentioning that the museum store (MCA Store) is one of the most special shopping places in Sydney, mainly selling Australian and international contemporary art and cultural publications as well as unique gifts; The outdoor cafeteria above the museum, (MCA Caf é, is one of the best places to enjoy the (Sydney Harbour) view of the port of Sydney and the Sydney Opera House, the (Sydney Harbour Bridge) of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
