Introduction

Cataract Gorge Reserve is located on the western outskirts of Launceston, Tasmania's second largest city, about 4 kilometers from downtown Launceston.

Cataract Gorge Reserve is very close to the city, and there is a feeling of urban oasis. (South Esk River), which runs across the park, divides the valley into two parts. The south side of the river bank is a rock wall, and the north bank is a green forest. The walkways are very good, connecting several very characteristic bridges in the middle. The park has an outdoor swimming pool and takes the world's longest monorail cable car, (Cataract Gorge Scenic Chairlift), overlooking the canyon, with peacocks scattered near the pavilions and gardens on the mountains.

Cardenet Canyon is often directly referred to by locals as the "Canyon" (The Gorge), is actually a valley. From the foreign bridge, there are two hiking routes: the north bank is a relatively flat stroll route, and the south bank is a mountaineering route that requires some physical strength. At the end of the hiking route is a lake and an open meadow, with a suspension bridge above the lake, an artificial swimming pool on the grass, and an aerial cable car seat connecting the highlands on both sides. On the other side of the pool, there is a coffee shop that can buy drinks and simple cooked food. There is a peacock that has been kept for a long time near the seat of the coffee shop, and wild kangaroos are seen from time to time. There are several hiking routes in this area, the farthest to the upstream dam.
