Introduction

Pearns Steam World is located in (Westbury), a small inland town in northern Tasmania, about 30 kilometers from Launceston, Tasmania's second-largest city.

Pearns Steam World, an ancient collection of agricultural machinery, was founded by the Payne family, which has run agricultural businesses in Westbury for more than 80 years. The family, which began collecting steam engines, agricultural machinery and equipment in the 1950s, now has more than 200 original and repair machines dating back to the late 19th century.

Here, visitors can see wonderful examples of steam tractors, stationary engines and agricultural souvenirs. The collection has Fordon (Foden), Marshall (Marshall), Buffalo (Buffalo Pitts), Evelingport (Aveling Porter), Eccleps (Eclipse) and Burthor (Birdsall) steam engines many of which have a history of nearly 100 years. Unique tractors include the renovated Marshall (Marshalls), Lanz (Lanz), Sanderson (Saundersons) and Titan (Titans). The children can enjoy a train trip around the cluster on the narrow rail, which has a regular steam engine day and some dazzling repairs to the engine.
