Aquarium des Lagons is located on the west side of the lemon beach at the southern tip of (Noumea), (Noumea), the capital of (New Caledonia), New Caledonia, on the west side of (Plage de 1 / 39 / Anse Vata.
Aquarium des Lagons was founded in 1956 by biologist Ren é Katara and his wife, Ada (Ida Stucki), and reopened on Aug. 31, 2007. The aquarium is not large, covering an area of about 1830 square meters, divided into three floors, a total of 33 pools with a total capacity of 500000 litres. Many New Caledonia-specific fish are kept in the aquarium.
