Introduction

Eaglehawk Neck Historic Site is located in (Tasman Peninsula), southeast Tasmania, about 70 kilometers from downtown Horbart, the capital of Tasmania.

Eagle neck isthmus (Eaglehawk Neck) is located at the northernmost end of Tasman Peninsula, connecting Tasman Peninsula and Forrest Peninsula (Forestier Peninsula), from Checker Stone (Tessellated Pavement), Devil Kitchen (Devils Kitchen), Tasman Arch (Tasman Arch), Tasman sprinkler hole (Tasman Blowhole) and other attractions are very close.

The Eagle neck Gorge has a narrow terrain, less than 500 meters long, and only 100 meters wide. Because this narrow strip is so easy to patrol, easy to defend and difficult to attack, many hounds are tied to the roadside. Once someone tries to pass through, these dedicated hunting dogs will bark. This brings in the guards, so this is also the Hunter Road (Dog Line), which is one of the important reasons why (Port Arthur), the port of Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula, was chosen as the prison address.

Eaglehawk Neck Historic Site is part of the prison site in Port Arthur, where (Officers Quarters), an officer's hut, has been restored as a museum about the history and present life of the Eagle neck Gorge and Port Arthur. The cabins, built in 1832, are hailed as Australia's oldest existing wooden military building, near which is the officer's restaurant, (Officers Mess), a modern restaurant and cafe. It is also an information center to visit the area's artificial landscape and natural phenomena.
