45-year-old pilot killed in South Australia helicopter crash

A helicopter crashed this morning near (Woomera), north of South Australia, killing a 45-year-old pilot.

According to a report on Radio 9, the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority, (CASA), revealed that at about 10:30 today, a helicopter crashed while laying a cable near the (Carrapateena) copper and gold mine in Karapatina, owned by Oz Minerals Mining Company. A 45-year-old pilot from Queensland was killed.

ElectraNet, a supplier of South Australia Power, said in a statement: "ElectraNet is deeply saddened to confirm that the death incident this morning involved a contractor on our northern project. We express our condolences to the families and colleagues of the pilot, who is cooperating with the authorities to investigate the incident. Police investigators in South Australia are on their way to the crash site, 475 kilometers north of Adelaide. "

It is said that the helicopter was the European direct (Eurocopter) 350 model.
