Oil prices across Australia are about to rise to a four-year high! Why don't you fill up the tank?

Motorists in many parts of Australia are now being warned to refuel as soon as possible, as gasoline prices rise to a four-year high.

On May 18, unleaded gasoline prices at some stations in Sydney and Brisbane were higher than 161 cents a litre, although some retailers still sold for less than 140 cents a litre.

"We are in a period of gradual increase in oil prices in the price cycle," RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith (Renee Smith) said in an interview with 9NEWS. Low oil prices will not last long.

"once prices go up, they are bound to go up a lot." on May 18, unleaded gasoline prices at the Pymble Coles service station on Sydney's north shore reached 161.4 cents per litre.

The price rises about two cents a day. Unleaded gasoline prices across Sydney averaged 139.8 cents a litre and are expected to rise to 155.0 cents a litre in the next three to four weeks.

In the Queensland capital, unleaded gasoline prices average 161.9 cents per litre, with Caltex and BP service stations taking the lead in raising prices during the cycle.

"gasoline prices are rising from now on," RACQ spokeswoman Renee Smith told 9NEWS.

"I am really worried that the average price of gasoline will exceed 160 cents per litre, which will break the four-year record."

The record of the Australian Petroleum Institute last week showed similar prices, and the lead-free price of Adelaide reached 158.2 points per liter, with an average of 155.4 per litre.

The average price of unleaded gasoline is 145.1 cents per litre, compared with 141.4 cents per litre in Melbourne, up from 143.6 cents. But it's not too late to refuel.

A four-year record-breaking increase in oil prices is not expected to occur in Sydney in a matter of days, with some shops still supplying about 130.0 cents a litre of gasoline.

Hunt (Hunt) of RACQ recommends that motorists compare goods to three.

"there is still a low price of gasoline on the market now, so fill up the tank as soon as you can." Hunter said.
