The famous pizza shop in downtown Melbourne was fined 15,000 yuan

Recently, a pizza shop was revealed to have live animals in its kitchen, but also to provide "non-edible" food.

Wood'n Chimney, a pizza store in Prahran, downtown Melbourne, was fined 15,000 yuan for failing to comply with the Food Act.

Customers complained that the service was slow and sometimes the dishes were not cooked, and the restaurant was untidy and filthy.

According to the Department of Health's conviction, the restaurant failed to comply with the Food Standards Code.

The pizza store has repeatedly violated food laws since November 2017, making it on the state government's list of food safety convictions.

The restaurant does not maintain in-store fixtures, equipment and kitchen supplies, and accumulates a large amount of food waste, dirt and grease.

They also feed animals in food-handling areas without "taking all practical measures to prevent pests from entering food sites." Stonnington City Administrator Stuart Draffin told the Herald Sun that they would take "all necessary action to protect the public."

He said the specific information about food safety violations is confidential information between the operator and the city government.
