Melbourne's wealthy district of Turak (Toorak) has a new owner of a mansion that resembles the "White House" of the US presidential palace, where a local family bought the house for about A $11.5 million.
The White House, at 55 (St Georges Road) St. George Road in Turak, sold for A $9 million to A $9.9 million last month, according to real estate website realstate.com.au. Booth (Oliver Booth), a real estate agent, said the buyer's long-standing demand for big houses in Turak helped to sell the luxury home for tens of millions of dollars.
The mansion, built in the early 2000s and covering an area of 1158 square meters, has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, tennis courts and an indoor swimming pool, in addition to a similar appearance to the White House. During its one-month private sales campaign, more than 140 groups of people went to see the house, and the final bid was also made by six groups.
Booth said the buyer was a couple with two children, and they loved the grandeur of the property.
Booth said several other wealthy families were willing to pay "well over A $20 million" for a property similar to the house in Turak, but there was no suitable housing supply nearby to meet their needs.
Booth said he had been asked a lot of buyers, but he didn't have a house to offer. These families would like to have a large house suitable for the family, and preferably a swimming pool. Tennis courts, garages, the White House have everything, and even more.
It is reported that Tullak's "White House" is three floors high, with elevator connections between each floor, as well as formal and informal living rooms and dining spaces, kitchens equipped with Miele-branded kitchenware, and storage rooms that can enter, as well as wine cellars, study rooms, and billiard rooms. The bathroom in the master bedroom is equipped with spa equipment and six cars can be parked in the garage.
