Recently, Woolworth announced that gift cards purchased by consumers in its supermarkets and retail stores will no longer be valid as of March 31. What's more, if you bought a gift card after March last year, you could also enjoy this new benefit!
"We welcome Woolworth's decision and hope that other retailers will follow in the footsteps of Woolworth," Tom Godfrey, a spokesman for a commodity testing website, reportedly accepted.
"while it's convenient for consumers to buy gift cards, they actually promise a bunch of terms and conditions in disguise," Godfrey said. "from very short validity to activation fees, gift cards are more like gifts to retailers."
At the end of last year, the Woolworth plans to extend the validity period from the previous year to three years, and the New York Fair Trading Office has issued rules. But after careful consideration and market research, Woolworth decided to do "more thoroughly" and directly cancel the validity period!
Chris Cramond, head of Woolworths, said: "for urban people who are busy with green, at least there is no need for them to worry about it. They can use gift cards flexibly."

Last August, data showed that Australians wasted A $70 million a year on outstanding gift cards, with an average balance of A $54, representing a total of one hundred and forty one million nine hundred and ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine idle funds over two years.
