Canberra 54-year-old civil servant faces 44 charges! Application for bail: want to take care of 89-year-old mothe

A Canberra civil servant has been charged with illegally harassing a woman in the Northern Territory. His application for bail was denied.

Paul Anthony Bennett (Paul Anthony Bennett), 54, faces 44 charges, including unlawful harassment, intrusion, theft, vandalism, domestic violence and camera theft. Bennett has been a civil servant for 30 years. According to Darwin's Court of Justice (Darwin Local Court), Bennett was arrested in May in ACT and NT, respectively.

Mary Chalmers, the prosecution's lawyer, told the court that Bennett has been harassing the victim for eight months, including telephone, text messages, letters and so on. Before Bennett was arrested in May this year, he also used a false identity to fly to Darwin.

In response to a bail application, Judge Dick Vallez (Dick Wallace) said Bennett's conduct was "persistent and very cunning", causing "mental and financial harm to the victim." He said: "he faces a lot of charges, there are a lot of legal provisions."

If bail is successful, the victim could be exposed to a very high risk, Charmont said. "Bennett can't stop anymore," she said. He has a lot of evidence of his crimes. "

But defense lawyer Sean McMaster (Shane McMaster) said Bennett wanted to take care of his 89-year-old mother in Canberra. So he's in a very low mood now. But the bail request has been denied.
