South Australia unemployment rate rising again?! Above the national average, to the highest level since April!

South Australia's unemployment rate rose to 5.7% in July, its highest level since April.

South Australia's unemployment rate rose 0.3 percent from June to 5.7 percent after adjusting for the season, according to the latest figures released today (August 16) by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

This is Australia's third-lowest unemployment rate, behind New South Wales (up 0.2 percent to 4.9 percent) and Victoria (the unemployment rate is down 0.6 percent to 5 percent).

The national average unemployment rate remains 5.4%.

Employment minister Michaelia Cash says companies have created more than three hundred thousand jobs in the past 12 months.

As of today, Australia's full-time work force has reached an all-time high.

The biggest increase in employment was in the state of Victoria, with an increase of 29400.

Next was South Australia, where about 1700 people found jobs in July.

South Australia has about 844500 people employed, nearly five hundred and forty thousand full-time workers.

South Australia's Industrial and skilled minister (South Australian Industry and Skills Minister) David Pisoni said it was pleased to see an increase in employment and job hunting in South Australia.

However, more needs to be done.

"after excluding seasonal adjustment, South Australia's unemployment rate has risen, which indicates that the economy needs to be further strengthened," he said.

He said the small business payroll tax, which began in January, would further boost employment growth.

At present, South Australia has strong consumer and business confidence, a positive mindset, combined with hard work and the right policy environment, will lead to investment, employment and economic growth.
