Head fever, drink hot water; cold and fever, drink hot water; toothache, stomachache, drink hot water.

To Chinese and Chinese people all over the world, hot water is a god-like existence, as if it could cure all kinds of diseases.

The same is true for eating.

Whether faced with hot pot, stir-fried vegetables or soup, the people around you will always kindly remind: eat while hot, drink while hot.

But it's not!

Even for healthy hot water, if you drink wrong will also bring the burden to the body, and even cause disease, may cause cancer!

A report released by (International Agency for Research on Cancer,IARC, an international cancer research agency affiliated with the World Health Organization (WHO), suggests that drinking hot drinks above 65 ℃ may increase the risk of esophageal cancer.

Beverages above 65 ℃ are classified as Class 2A (most likely carcinogenic) carcinogens

Research in China, Turkey and South American countries found that people in these areas are generally used to drinking water, coffee or tea at 65 ℃ or above, according to an assessment published by IARC in the journal Lancet Oncology. The risk of esophageal cancer increased.

IARC's list of some carcinogens

Category 1 carcinogens (there is clear evidence of carcinogenicity to humans): natural aflatoxin, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, areca nut, formaldehyde, asbestos, hepatitis B virus, processed meat, etc.

Class 2A carcinogens (more likely to cause cancer to humans): acrylamide (a compound contained in French fries), high-temperature frying, hot drinks above 65 ℃, inorganic compounds of lead, etc.

Class 2B carcinogens (less likely to cause cancer to humans): kimgee, dichlorvos, nitrobenzene, gasoline, etc.

The report officially lists overheated beverages as a category 2a carcinogen. It is pointed out that the normal tolerance temperature of esophageal mucosa is 40 ℃ 50 ℃, and high temperature above 65 ℃ is enough to cause chronic injury to upper digestive tract, induce esophageal mucosal inflammation, promote the production of active nitrogen, and synthesize nitrosamine.

Nitrosamine is a known strong carcinogen that induces esophageal cancer.

At present, esophageal cancer, which causes four hundred thousand deaths a year, is the eighth most prevalent cancer in the world. Smoking and drinking are all high-risk factors for esophageal cancer, and drinking overheated water or drink may also be one of the causes. Especially in conjunction with other carcinogens, such as alcohol, etc.

Experts suggest to drink as little as possible more than 65 ℃ of tea or coffee, if have swallowing difficulty, nausea, long-term indigestion and other symptoms need to seek medical treatment as soon as possible.

So, how do you judge whether the hot drink you're drinking is above 65 ℃?

Here are some common examples: hot pot soup as high as 120 ℃, freshly boiled tea at 80 ℃, noodles and dumplings at 70 ℃, and 65 ℃ water at only one sip.

So, we should know 65 ℃ above about what it feels, remember a word: hot.

Recently, the Life Times, run by the people's Daily and hosted by the Global Times, invited authoritative experts to tell you the best temperature for a glass of "hot water".

Experts said the temperature of drinking hot water can not be too high, 40 ℃ or so water temperature is the best, neither excessive stimulation of the gastrointestinal tract, and not easy to cause vasoconstriction.

The body temperature is about 37 ℃, so 40 ℃ is the feeling of warm boiling water.

Experts warned to avoid repeated boiling water to avoid toxic nitrite, even if the use of drinking water, it is best to "drink as soon as possible."

All right, drink more hot water. This sentence is almost straight men will not comfort girls in the disaster areas, today, the hard-hearted WHO to this disaster-stricken areas to add a new sum of money!

Of course, drinking hot water is actually a lot of good, for example, improve blood circulation, promote digestion, help sweat, relieve pain and so on.

Adriana Salmon, a clinical nutritionist at the MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, suggests: "for the sake of your esophagus health, don't drink too hot a drink or wait until it gets cold."

So it's better to drink hot water than coffee, as long as it's not too hot-better add some milk, and be careful not to let too hot food in when you eat hot pot.
