Qantas Melbourne Sydney is the world's second highest-revenue route

Melbourne Sydney is not only one of the busiest routes in the world, but also one of the most profitable.

OAG, an airline analyst, said Qantas's Melbourne-based Sydney route had revenues of $800m last year, the world's second-highest-paid route.

The first is the New York London course to and from the New York-based Kennedy Airport to the Heathrow airport in London. Last year, the airline's operating income was $1,037,724,867, and the only route in the world of more than $1 billion. OAG said the airline's revenues account for 6% of the total UK's total revenue.

OAG combined flight schedules and traffic data to determine the world's top 10 routes by revenue, five of which took off and landed from Heathrow.

New Airlines also made the top 10 flights from Sydney to Singapore with $ five hundred and forty two million nine hundred and ninety nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine in revenue.

OAG said the top ten were high-cost routes, with a high frequency of flights, and noted that Qantas had 65 flights a day to and from Sydney, Melbourne. In addition, the top 10 routes tend to have more business travelers, who tend to book tickets at high late fares-which has helped airlines boost revenue.

Earlier this year, OAG called Melbourne Sydney the world's second busiest route, flying more than 54000 flights a year, second only to Jeju-Seoul.

Qantas' net profit in the first half of last fiscal year was A $607 million, with profits on domestic routes up 20% to 447 million.
