During home isolation, you should do these 5 things well

Under the new crown, like so many Australians, I and my colleagues in Asia and the Pacific chose home isolation to protect medical resources and balance the curve.

During this time, one of the most things I do, in addition to dealing with everyday work, is to think about what happened in the past and what might happen in the future, and how we —— both as businesses and as individuals might happen in the future, might happen in the future.

A lot of people think about negative and negative, think that the world will not be good, everything will get worse; but all I do think about the future: I firmly believe that the difficulties and challenges before me are temporary, and how to grow from adversity is crucial.

As a result, in order to make full use of the rare time of home isolation to improve myself, I have been doing these 5 things recently —— If you want to make yourself a better and more valuable person in the world after the storm, then I suggest you try it too.

1. consider your future financial security

Far from seriously affecting the lives of many people in terms of health, the epidemic has had an extremely wide and far-reaching impact on the global economic. The lesson we should all learn from this epidemic is: if such a crisis returns, how can we be better prepared financially?

For this reason, we need to rethink the priorities of all kinds of things in life and reassess our value, our industry, our economic level, our asset allocation, and our ability to resist risks.

I have been an active investor over the years, focusing on real estate areas and stocks and start-ups. What I personally learned in this epidemic is that as an investor, in addition to holding a fixed long-term investment, a certain proportion of liquid assets should be allocated, and when difficulties arise, there is more cash on hand.

And, as buffett famously put it ," I'm greedy when others fear "—— just look at it with a long-term investment perspective, and there are plenty of good opportunities in the housing and stock markets right now to help you build your wealth over the next period.

At the same time, I am determined that I will be more cautious about spending in the future. I've always been good at making money, but sometimes it's hard to spend money. Recently, I read from the book that many successful people, billionaires, have genuine respect for every dollar they earn. This respect moved me, and in the future, I will also respect every dollar more.

2. learning new knowledge

We all have a lot of time to get along with ourselves during home isolation, and use that time to think about what you need to improve on, or what skills you have always wanted to learn but suffer from not having time to learn. When you determine the general direction, you can choose what you want to learn in this direction.

I've recently been reading about financial masters like Warren Buffett and Ray Dallio, learning and thinking about how to look for opportunities in a crisis.

Besides, I also use this time to study the piano —— I set myself a goal of learning the piano after retirement a long time ago, and the isolation at home allowed me to start the plan early.

In today's era, even if you do not leave home, there are a large number of excellent books, podcasts, videos, can bring you new knowledge and skills from all sides.

Ironfish Asia-Pacific Group recently offered an online course to help people break through business bottlenecks and find a new way forward. The course, which is taught in Chinese for a total of 12 hours and is divided into 6 classes, has now been taught in 3 sessions, with more than 400 people listening online each time. Further, Ironfish Asia Pacific Group plans to re-open the English version of the course.

During the global financial crisis, we also offered this series of courses, the response was also very good. As economic decline, jobs with the lowest skills are the first to face unemployment. We hope that in such a period, for the people in confusion to bring new ideas, new knowledge, so that they can find a new direction.

3. learn to cherish and be grateful

Under the epidemic, we only found that many of the things we used to be used to, in fact, so fragile. As we thought, it was perfectly normal to work properly, to be healthy and to have a family together, but overnight, the epidemic took away many people's jobs and many people's health, especially among the elderly most affected by the epidemic —— Recently, we have seen almost every day the sad news that the elderly have been killed by the new coronavirus.

If you still have a job, please cherish this job more, try to make achievements; if you are still healthy, please pay more attention to your physique, keep healthy and healthy living habits;

If your parents and grandparents are still alive, please cherish your time with them and call them more. When my parents were still alive, I called them every day, and today, I often talk to my brothers and sisters, hoping that my parents are still alive, and we can make them enjoy the world.

Cherish everything you have, don't wait until you lose and regret!

4. develop a new habit

In this period of isolation at home, you can develop a new habit for yourself, can be daily exercise punch, can also be diet, and so on.

A new habit I've developed recently is to record two Chinese and English video diary. a day for colleagues in Asia Pacific

At the beginning, when the Asia-Pacific Group decided to work from home, I was concerned that people were affected by the overwhelming negative information on social media, focusing on new cases and death numbers every day, and ignoring the good things around them; I was also concerned that this was the first time many people had free time, and that there might be time management problems; and I had a lot to learn about starting a business and working from home in my early years, so I recorded a video to share with my colleagues some of my tips on home isolation.

The video was well received by the Asia-Pacific people, so I thought it would be better if I shared some of my life experiences and suggestions with my colleagues every day in the form of video to help more people.

I initially planned to share 21 videos because people often said it would take 21 days to build a habit; but then I thought that last year my Peking University alumnus Yu Minhong had a 100-day challenge, and this time I decided to challenge myself, so I expanded on a 100-day video diary plan.

now i have proceed to 33 days, maybe after 100 days, i will continue to 200 days ,365 days. But I am not "doing it ", but always sharing my insights and experiences sincerely and bringing more value to my Asia-Pacific colleagues.

5. your family

No matter how stormy the outside world is, home is always a warm haven for each of us. In this special period, we are busy on weekdays, we should calm down, spend more time and mind to accompany the family.

Many people pursue success, the purchase of luxury homes, but if there is no love with the people around, luxury homes are only hard cold building.

Recently, I began to try to cook for my family. I used to be too busy in my daily work and have a lot of entertainment and almost never cook. Recently, I have made some Chinese traditional scallion cakes for the children, they are very fond of eating, and I am very encouraged to plan to make more dishes.

I live very close to the company and often go to the company office alone recently. In the past, although I seldom answered the work phone when I was at home, I would also answer some; now, I basically do not answer the work phone at home, try to deal with things in the office, leave the time at home to the family, attentively accompany them.

"No winter will not pass, no spring will not come ", we are now facing an unprecedented challenge, but I firmly believe that we will usher in a victory against the epidemic and return to normal life.

In this period of home isolation days, let us learn to cherish the present together, improve themselves; when the storm after, may we all be a better person, meet again in the bright sunshine of Australia.
