Crime has risen in Victoria's railway stations, which are the five most dangerous.

In recent years, the state's security situation does not seem to be satisfactory, and the crime rate is not only high, but also rising, especially in the case of the railway station.

The latest survey data show that the crime rate at nearly 30 railway stations in Victoria has more than doubled compared with last year.

In addition, between April and June this year, there were 1692 criminal cases at the train station in Melbourne's metropolitan area, compared with 1301 in the same period last year.

Among them, the top five railway stations with the highest crime rate are Flinders St,Southern Cross,Dandenong,Sunshine and Footscray..

The increase in train station crime is due to vehicle theft and drug and weapons crimes, the state police said.

"A lot of thieves are targeting cars in train station parking, which are speculative crimes, so we also remind the public to lock doors and not to keep valuables in the eye-catching areas of the car," he said.

"in addition, there has been an increase in the number of drug-and weapons-related crimes, although this is due to the proactive detection of criminal activities by (Protective Services Officers), a security officer at the railway station, as well as personnel from the traffic safety services, As a result, the figures are higher than those obtained through public reporting alone. "

A police spokesman also said the presence of security personnel played a "vital role" in protecting the safety of the railway station.

"at present, this project is effective, and we will continue this project and do our best to protect the railway station and its surroundings. There is evidence that security personnel patrol the platform to make commuters feel more at ease. Moreover, they are currently working closely with local police to engage in other anti-crime activities. "

However, from the data point of view, the presence of security personnel does not seem to work all the time, as their patrol hours are between 6 p.m. and the last train, and the data show that Nearly half of all criminal activity takes place outside the hours of work of security personnel.

As a result, the former senior Victorian Police Officer, Mal Hyde, has recently reviewed the security patrol project and made a series of recommendations, and upon completion of the review, the Victoria State Police will submit specific project improvements to goverment on the basis of these recommendations. Including the transfer of some security personnel from the less passenger train station to the busier railway station, extended patrol hours and so on.

""If the crime rate in the railway station continues to increase, then the government will take any necessary measures to strengthen and expand the strength and scope of the patrol project."," said Edward O 'Donghue, a police spokesman for the state opposition.

It is reported that a total of 211 security personnel in Melbourne's metropolitan area conducted patrols from 6 p.m. to the suspension of the train, and more than 1300 security personnel were patrolling throughout Victoria State.

In addition, as part of Night Network, security personnel conduct 24-hour patrols on Fridays and Saturdays, with goverment adding 109 security personnel and 62 traffic police officers to participate in the project.

We also look forward to a better and better security environment in Melbourne as a result of the tireless efforts of the goverment and the police!
