Sydney's barren house was forced to evacuate 40 people next door when the sun burst into the sky.

The fire struck a home on Sydney's inner west side, forcing dozens of people to set up from a nearby apartment building.

At 1 a.m., when a house believed to have been abandoned was swallowed up by flames, it was a terrible alarm for the inhabitants of Short Street in Homebush.

In the camera shot taken by 9NEWS photographers, flames from the roof and windows can be seen.

And the flames are dangerously close to the surrounding buildings.

About 30 to 40 residents in the neighborhood were evacuated, while firefighters spent about 40 minutes trying to extinguish the flames and control the situation.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the blaze, but the property was completely destroyed.

"Fire crews ran into flames on the roof," said Graham Moore (Graeme Moore), inspector of the New State Fire and Rescue Agency.

"they immediately started using hoses. It appears to be an abandoned house, so police and fire investigators will investigate the actual cause of the fire. "

Early investigations suggested that the fire might have been deliberately ignited.
